
This information is for medical graduates from countries other than Australia and New Zealand, (International Medical Graduates: IMGs) who are seeking registration in New South Wales.
The Board must be satisfied:
Carefully read the following prerequisite requirements for registration of IMGs in NSW. Even if registration has been approved in principle by the Board, all requirements for completion of registration must be met before registration will be granted.

2. Primary Source Verification of Documents
Since January 2006, all International Medical Graduates (IMG) applying for registration in New South Wales are required to submit documents relating to their medical qualifications to the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG) for primary source verification (PSV).

The complete process of verification undertaken by the ECFMG may take several months however this will not delay registration. The NSW Medical Board requires only the unique 'EICS number' issued by the AMC. This is usually issued 10-14 days after lodgment.
Please ensure PSV applications are lodged with the AMC as early as possible to avoid delays with registration.
If documents submitted to the ECFMG are found to be fraudulent, registration will be withdrawn immediately and further action may be taken by the Board.
3. Certificates of Registration Status / Certificates of Good Standing
When applying for registration in NSW, a Certificate of Registration Status / Certificate of Good Standing from each jurisdiction in which the practitioner has practised or held registration in the past 5 years is required. The certificates must be:
